New Delhi: Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states E.S.L. Narasimhan on Wednesday exuded confidence that all issues between the two states would be resolved amicably as he pitched for frequent meetings between Chief Ministers for better understanding of the issues and earlier resolution.
On a visit to the capital to brief top functionaries of the government about the situation in both states, the Governor informed Union home minister Rajnath Singh that the meeting between N. Chandrababu Naidu and K. Chandrashekar Rao was “good” and it yielded the desired results.
Mr Narasimhan had on Sunday last brought together both the warring Chief Ministers to the negotiating table so that they open their minds and speak about various contentious issues that have cropped post bifurcation.
The Governor told the media that he would continue to push for such meetings at regular intervals so that the issues that crop up are resolved amicably without any problems.
“I briefed the home minister about the meeting of the CMs. I briefed him about the situation in the state,” he said.
“The Chief Ministers had themselves said they would meet frequently. I would also take initiatives for them to meet. They need to meet regularly to sort out issues. Dialogue is the only way,” he said.
The Governor also met President Pranab Mukherjee, while National Security Advisor A.K. Doval called on him at the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan for lunch. Mr Narasimhan refused to answer to questions regarding the status of Hyderabad and the reported move to grant more powers to him as Governor.
