The iPhone 5 has 1GB of RAM. With Android and other smartphones shipping with 2GB and 3GB of RAM, it is strange that the iPhone 6 will have just 1GB of RAM instead of 2GB or more.
The iPhone 6 is alleged to have a powerful processor, but being low on just 2GB of RAM seems to be a bit indigestible to most. However, according to a report on PocketNow, the schematics, leaked by @Geekbar, reveal the iPhone 6 having just 1GB or RAM (shown below).
However, some reports state that the schematics point out to the NAND flash which stores the operating system. It would be difficult for a high-end smartphone to perform smooth multi-tasking with just 1GB of RAM. Apple would not make that mistake since the iOS 8 has to run smoothly and moreover, future updates would also possibly require better RAM.
However, reports are not very clear and it is difficult to finally pronounce that the iPhone 6 will sport only 1GB of RAM. We will have to wait for more information on this.
