A passport to your favourite tourist spot in Mysore

Available in 3 packages "passport" will help to skip long queues at tourist destinations

Mysore: Tourists coming to Mysore this Dasara may have an easier time as not only has the entry tax for vehicles coming to the district from other parts of the country been suspended for two months from September 15 to November 15 as a promotion measure, but a “Multi Destination Tourism passport” is being introduced for their convenience for a month between September 15 to October 15 this year.

Available in three different packages, the "passport" will help them skip long queues at each destination of interest.

Suggested by the Dasara High Power Committee headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on December 19 last, the idea was approved by the Mysore district administration, the Mysore Zoo, Mysore Palace Board and other bodies after hearing the views of various stakeholders, including travel agents at a meeting here on Tuesday.

Mysore Deputy Commissioner, C Shikha, said the blue "passport" package, costing Rs 160 for adults and Rs 100 for children, covered Mysore Zoo, Karanji Lake, Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, Krishnaraja Sagar and Ranganthittu.

The green passport, costing Rs 120 for adults and Rs 75 for children, covered Mysore Zoo, Karanji Lake, Mysore Palace and Chamundi hills and the orange, costing Rs 80 for adults and Rs 40 for children, covered Mysore Zoo and Mysore Palace. The passports will be available in all tourism centres, major hotels and with the Karnataka Tourism Department and also online from September 10.

The blue passport will be valid for visits for three days, the green for two days, and the orange for one day. Tourists will also get a rebate of 20 per cent in the entry fee for Mysore Zoo and Mysore Palace, officials revealed.
