Andhra Pradesh Budget: Naidu to expand airports, Kakinada to get new commercial port

Srikakulam as the state is to be declared as special category state

Hyderabad: After the bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu presented the state’s first annual Budget for the financial year of 2014-15 on Wednesday in the Assembly.

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to develop the Machilpatnam port under PPP mode and 14 minor seaports under PPP including Bhavanapatnam and Kalingapatnam.

He also said that the Centre has proposed establishment of a second major port in the state and one more commercial port at Kakinada.

The state has also decided to support in expanding existing airports at Vijaywada, Rajmundry, Tirupati and Kadapa.

A greenfield airport is envisaged in between Vijaywada and Kakinada.

Ramakrishnudu also said that the Centre has asked for assistance for no-frills airport at Kuppam Kurnool city Nellore.

The AP government has removed state development fund and Assembly Constituency’s development fund.

In the Budget, there were no new schemes except Anna canteens, NTR Sujala Sravanthi and enhancement of pensions from October 2.
