Riteish Deshmukh accepts Sania Mirza's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Mumbai: Riteish Deshmukh is one of the first Bollywood stars to take the ALS(amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) Ice Bucket Challenge, that has gone viral on the internet over the last few days.

Celebrities from all over the globe have been taking this challenge that requires people to pour ice cold water over themselves and post their videos on the internet.

The aim is to raise money and awareness of the disease.

The disease is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. It attacks nerve cells and often starts with muscle twitching and weakness. Roughly three-quarters of people with the disease die within five years.

Many Hollywood celebrities have been participating in this initiative and challenging their famous friends and colleagues to do the same. Even the President of the United States Barack Obama was challenged to dunk a bucket of water over his head, but he politely declined and instead offered to give some monetary support for the cause.

Sania Mirza took up the challenge yesterday and challenged Bollywood star Riteish Deshmukh as well as tennis star Mahesh Bhupati and cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

Riteish who is currently shooting in Kraków for upcoming film 'Bangistan' took the chilly challenge and in turn challenged other Bollywood stars including Abhishek Bachchan, Pulkit Samrat, Ashish Chowdhry, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshay Kumar.
