High voltage campaign in Bellary
CM Siddaramaiah and KPCC president toured constituency seeking votes for party nominee
Bellary: People of Bellary (ST) assembly constituency witnessed a high-voltage campaign by heavyweights of both the Congress and BJP on Monday. Tuesday is the last day for public campaigning for the by-election scheduled for August 21. From the Congress party, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress party's floor leader in the Lok Sabha Mr Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) president Dr G Parameshwar, ministers D.K. Shivakumar, H Anjaneya, Shivaraj Thangadagi, P.T. Parameshwar Naik, Umashree and other leaders toured the constituency seeking votes for party nominee Mr N.Y. Gopalakrishna.
For the BJP, Railway minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Union minister for chemicals and fertilizers Mr H.N. Ananth Kumar, state BJP president Prahlad Joshi, leader of opposition in the Assembly Mr Jagadish Shettar, former deputy chief minister R. Ashok, C T Ravi, Lok Sabha members Karadi Sanganna, P.C. Mohan, Mr B Sriramulu and many other legislators campaigned for party candidate Mr Obalesh.
During the campaign, Mr Prahlad Joshi said, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will go behind bars if the illegality in the denotification of Arkavathy layout land in Bengaluru is handed over for a probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The BJP state president said people will give a 'show-cause notice' to the Congress government in the state for its poor administration and the failure of law and order by defeating Congress candidates in the by-elections to three assembly constituencies.
