SCB will compile only civilian data

18,000 families of the Armed Forces in Greater Hyderabad will not be part of the Telangana survey
Hyderabad: As many as 18,000 families of the Armed Forces in Greater Hyderabad will not be part of the survey as it needs to be done through defense channels. So far, the Army authorities have not issued any notice regarding the survey nor will enumerators be allowed to conduct the survey of these families who are spread across AOC, Bowenpally, Golconda, Hakimpet, Mehdipatnam and Lal Bazar.
Sujatha Gupta, CEO of the Secunderabad Cantonment Area, said, “Even during the state census, no data was collected from defense families and it was done through the defense channel. SCB officials will only conduct the survey for civilians living in Cantonment area and for helpers of the army quarters. This will be collected in a centralised manner and not door to door. No civilians will be allowed to enter Army premises.”
Meanwhile, around 2,332 families refused to participate in the survey during the pre visits 1 & 2, citing the HC’s order making it voluntary. “The survey is not mandatory and it is up to the citizens to participate. We don’t fall in the ‘below poverty line’ category nor are we interested in any state schemes,” said Anil Reddy, a resident of Begumpet. That apart, 21,636 “locked doors” were reported on Sunday. The GHMC has submitted the report to the government and a decision is yet to be taken on whether another survey needs to be conducted for these cases or not.
