Prime Minister Narendra Modi to track party MPs performance
New Delhi: Not just their performance inside the Parliament, BJP MPs’ performance in their respective constituency will also be reviewed by the party top brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has always advised party leaders not to lose the “sampark aur samvaad (connect and dialogue)” with the people.
During his interactions with the party MPs, Mr Modi always stresses on not becoming complacent and not to break the connect with the masses, which helped the saffron party in getting 281 parliamentary seats in the general elections. Even ministers in the Modi government have been asked to visit their constituencies regularly.
Sources disclosed that saffron party MPs’ performance in their respective constituencies will be assessed through feedback from three levels — individual MP, party workers in the constituency and sangh parivar/social organisations working in the parliamentary constituencies. In every parliamentary constituency, party MPs have been asked to set up coordination committee, comprising representatives from the Assembly segments.
Often MPs have to face flak over under utilisation of MPLADS fund or not getting works like health care facilities or santitation or public facilities done even after numerous requests from the residents of a particular area. The coordination committee will assist the MP with such complaints and requests.
The party is also reviewing the performance of its MPs inside Parliament. A report card of MPs, including their attendance, number of questions asked by them, their performance in parliamentary debates and discussions and also their performance in parliamentary committees is maintained.
