Friends or foes? KCR and Chandrababu Naidu asked to meet regularly
New Delhi: Union urban development minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday pitched for frequent meetings between Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states to sort out issues arising out formation of the two states as “opening up” of hearts would help resolve any misunderstanding.
Speaking to reporters here, the Union minister welcomed the recent talks between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao. “The meeting was in the right direction. It would help resolving the misunderstandings that were created by various people during the past few months. In fact the Chief Ministers should meet frequently and open up so that any issue that crops up between the two states will be resolved amicably,” he said.
Mr Venkaiah Naidu pitched for talks between Speakers, chief secretaries, secretaries and head of departments of both states at regular intervals so that the issues that crop up can be resolved amicably without any misgivings.
He also said the Centre would not interfere in the administrative functioning of state governments. “If at all there are issues which are pending with the (Centre), and if both the states (involved) want central assistance, then only will the central government step in. Otherwise, by itself, (Centre) will not interfere in the administrative and functional issues of state governments.
As far as the Centre is concerned, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are one and the same for us,” Mr Venkaiah Naidu said. The Union minister also said the meetings will really help ease the tension and misunderstanding created between various people.
