Calling off foreign secretary level talks highly unfortunate, says Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

Srinagar: Kashmiri separatists have termed India’s decision to call off foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan as “unfortunate”.

“The decision to call of foreign secretary level talks is highly unfortunate,” said Mirwaiz Umar Farooq adding, “Mr Basit’s meetings with Kashmiri separatist leadership was not any new development.”

Mr Farooq who was scheduled to meet Mr Basit on Tuesday said, “Prior to each political engagement between the two countries we would go to Delhi for consultations with Pakistani authorities. We want to contribute positively to any such process. But what India has done is against the spirit of dialogue.”
