Refund full amount to Vibgyor students: Department of Public Instruction
Department of Public Instruction has directed other school to admit Vibgyor students
Bengaluru: Vibgyor High School in Marathahalli, where a six-year-old girl student was raped by two gym instructors on its premises, is in the news again. The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has directed the school to refund the full amount paid by the students if they opt to join other schools. The DPI has also issued letters to parents, who approached the department, directing other schools in the area to admit Vibgyor students.
DPI Commissioner Mohmed Mohsin told Deccan Chronicle, “The order asking the school to make full repayment to students opting out of this school was made after a representation from parents. The department has directed the school to refund the entire amount, including the donation and fees collected in the name of various activities without any deductions. DDPI (South) Padmavathi has issued these orders.”
Many parents who had applied for transfer certificates of their children had expressed fears that they may not get the full refund of the fees and donation paid at the time of admission. “The letters directing other schools to admit students from Vibgyor were issued in the interest of students,” he said. The parents and activists felt that the DPI's direction is significant. “We were apprehensive that we would not get a full refund. The DPI order has come to our help. We are glad that the department responded to our appeals,” said a parent, who wished not to be identified.
