Woman gangraped, tied naked to tree in Uttar Pradesh

One of the accused, a schoolteacher and son of the village head, is detained

Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh: In yet another crime against women, a 33-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three persons, one of them a schoolteacher, who later left her tied to a tree in naked condition, police said on Monday.

The incident took place in Umarda area, on the intervening night of August 16-17 when three persons raped her and, then, left her tied naked to a tree before fleeing the spot, the FIR lodged by the victim said.

Umarda police station officer Imran Khan said that one person has been detained in this connection, adding that, the accused schoolteacher is the son of village head.

The woman has been admitted to a hospital, where her condition was stated to be stable, he said.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav represents the Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency.

A series of callous comments have marred the present government officials of Uttar Pradesh.

According to news reports, commenting on the rising incidents of rape in the state, outgoing governor Aziz Qureshi said "entire police force" could not prevent rapes,” adding, "Perhaps divine intervention can stop rapes."

Samajwadi party chief, and incumbent UP Chief Minister’s father Mulayam Singh Yadav said to reporters, “There are 21 crore people in Uttar Pradesh, yet the number of such cases are the least here.”

It doesn not stop here.

On another occasion, he also said, “Boys will be boys” when he was asked to give his opinion on whether rapists should be hanged.
