Authority set to replace Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams

Gov to appoint a 3 member specified authority to head the TTD management
Tirupati: The Telugu Desam government is learnt to be inclined to appoint a specified authority in place of a trust board to the TTD.
The state government has not been in a position to constitute the first TTD trust board after it came to power two months ago. Interestingly, the speed with which the state government suspended the erstwhile TTD Trust Board led by senior Congress leader Kanumuri Bapiraju five days ago made everyone believe that a new trust board would be formed.
However, in a shocker to TD leaders-cum-aspirants to berths in the TTD Trust Board, the state government is learnt to have decided to appoint a three-member specified authority of senior bureaucrats to head the TTD management till a full board is constituted.
According to sources in the TD, the file related to appointment of a specified authority is already in front of the AP Endowments department for consent. The last time a specified authority was constituted was in 2010 and before that in 2006.
According to precedent, an officer of the rank of special chief secretary would be chairman of the specified authority while the remaining members can be of principal secretary rank. The duration of the specified authority cannot exceed one year under Section 137 of Endowments Act, it is said.
According to TTD sources, the state government might appoint a specified authority to oversee the annual Srivari Brahmotsavams that is a month away to buy time to constitute a full-fledged Trust Board.
