“She used to encourage Siva and his friends to commit crimes - Police Commissioner

Hyderabad: A day after the gunning down of most wanted chain snatcher K. Siva, the Cyberabad police found that his friends and his wife used to mortgage the stolen ornaments with pawn brokers and private finance companies like Muthoot Finance Corporation and Shriram City Union Finance using fake IDs.

Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand said that private financiers, who had accepted ornaments from the criminals without verification of documents, will be arrested. Police officials said that Siva’s wife Naga Laxmi was a junior artiste in TV serials and films, and was staying in a rented room at Film Nagar.

“Shiva and his buddy Jagadeesh were also staying in the same area. They fell in love and got married at the Annavaram temple. They have a son named Srinivas, who is now five years old,” said a police officer from Cyberabad.

“She used to encourage Siva and his friends to commit crimes and sometimes used to participate in it. She used to remain inside in a car to watch the movements of potential victims before commiting offences, and used to sell the snatched chains,” he added. After the police arrested her and two other friends of Siva, they confessed to around 700 chain snatchings and other offences in Cyberabad, Hyderabad and Medak districts.

Siva and his associates, M. Jagadeesh and M. Raj Kumar were the most wanted criminals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. About 100 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) are pending in courts against them.

The police recovered 30 tolas of gold ornaments, two four wheelers, a Chevrolet Optra and Hyundai Accent, and furniture in all worth '30 lakh.
Police said that the gang used to change their residence frequently to escape the police. In a year, they used to change at least four houses and always introduced themselves as sand businessmen to neighbours.
