Peaches in China are made to look like sexy butts to garner more attention. They are sold under the name of ‘Ripe Fruits’, a name that may definitely attract sexual association.
These peaches were probably designed with the intent of being sold to take advantage of the impending romantic Qixi Festival. They are now being publicised as novelty but they definitely do not come cheap. One box consisting of nine panty fruits costs 498 yuan or US $80.
Although it is an innovative method for selling fruits, it is provoked mixed reaction from people.
While some think it is a clever idea, some feel that it is vulgar.
The idea for these designer fruits, renamed as Butt Peaches by Twitterati, was first conceived by a fruit vender from Nanjing. The peaches themselves come from Yangshan, in Wuxi, which just happens to be an area that has achieved renown for its lingerie and garment industry.
Even as innovative methods are being used to sell these peaches, the quality is nowhere compromised on.
The Wall Street Journal once referred to Wuxi peaches as “the juiciest, most delicious peaches on earth.”
Selling peaches with sex appeal is a trend that has caught on, as fruit vendors based in Shanghai and other areas have also begun selling similar peaches. The Nanjing fruit vendor, who created them, has applied for of all things, a panty peach patent as of a month ago, and is filing a complaint based on infringement with the Intellectual Property Bureau.
