The battle for the stars
Twitter has now toggled and customised options to give celebs a better experience
Twitter can be annoying when irrelevant notifications rain down on you killing the experience of the social media platform, especially if you are a celebrity.Twitter has now made it easier for verified users including celebrities to interact with each other on the social media network Two new features have been rolled out to improve the experience on Twitter. Celebrities will now increase the visibility of other verified users much more on their feed encouraging high profile users to engage in conversation with other celebs including discussions, expressing love, having spats and much more.
Celebrities usually have a blue “tick” badge next to their name to distinguish the real accounts from possible fake and parody accounts registered in the name of celebrities. Twitter’s new change gives verified accounts the option of toggling their feed to show only verified accounts to enable them connect better with other celebrities. The new change will also alert verified users on iOS and Android platforms when another verified user follows them.
Those account holders will also have the option to view just their verified followers in their stream, at least on iOS.“We hope these two features will help verified users easily connect with each other so we can continue to deliver those only-on-Twitter conversations to users,” Product Manager Jinen Kamdar wrote in the announcement.Celebrity Twitter interactions are more likely to gain more retweets and garner news coverage so this also enables followers of celebrities to enjoy more of their conversations with fellow celebrities.
Twitter offered the recent example of two verified users connecting: Luis Suarez and the Italian defender he bit during the World Cup, Giorgio Chiellini.Twitter’s changes to verified accounts come on the back of Facebook’s announcing a new app called ‘Mentions’ an exclusive app just for celebrities.
