Six member gang for allegedly threatening and trying to extort money from a woman at Boduppal in Medipally
Hyderabad: The police arrested a six-member gang for allegedly threatening and trying to extort money from a woman at Boduppal in Medipally. Incidentally, five of the gang members are teenaged students. They made calls to the victim and demanded money, and when she refused, they threatened to circulate her nude photographs and videos. However, they were not in possession of any such photograph.
Incidentally, the victim happens to be the friend of one of the accused boy’s mother. The police said the gand tried to blackmail and extort money from the victim, but in reality had no photographs. According to the police, the prime accused is 19-year-old Duggirala Gautam, an engineering student and a resident of Hyderguda. He had spent all the money meant for his college fee on other things, and was in need of more cash. So he hatched a plan to extort money from his mother’s friend, a 35-year-old woman, who is a beautician and a resident of Medipally.
Gautam discussed the plot with the other accused Rohit, Anirudh, Sandeep and Premchand, all of them 19-year-old engineering and degree students, as well as Rajender, a driver.
Over the past few days, Anirudh made calls to the victim and claimed that he had her nude photographs and videos and he would circulate the images if she did not pay him Rs 1.20 lakh.
“He tried to blackmail the woman and threatened to upload her pictures online,” said Medipally sub-inspector T. Srinu. However, the woman approached the police and a case was lodged. The accused have been arrested and have been remanded.
