Mysore man accused of killing son denied bail
Bengaluru: A man from H.D. Kote taluk in Mysore district allegedly killed his son to teach his wife a lesson who had refused to quit her job on his advice. The accused, Narayana (27), had suspected his wife’s fidelity and wanted her to resign.
After a fight, the woman had moved to her parents’ house along with her son. Narayana visited them, took his son out on the pretext of buying him biscuits and proceeded to commit the crime at an isolated place, the police have stated. Narayana’s advocate submitted before the court that his client should be granted bail as there were no eyewitnesses to the incident and the prosecution case rests on circumstantial evidence.
The prosecution submitted that the material goes to show that the petitioner was suspecting his wife’s fidelity and was pressurising her to leave the job. When she refused, he tortured her physically and mentally.
During the preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly told the police that he committed the murder to teach his wife a lesson. The material goes to show that on the date of alleged incident, the present petitioner went to the parents’ place of his wife and took the son along with him offering to buy biscuits, the court said. The witnesses have given statements that they had seen the boy with the petitioner.
The petitioner had also said that he committed the alleged act to teach his wife a lesson which amounts to extra-judicial confession, the court observed, dismissing his plea for bail.
