For that perfect photo-op

Follow these tips to look slim and svelte every time you get a photo clicked
Hyderabad: Last year, an Australian fitness trainer had demonstrated on her social media account how easy it was to fake one’s look and physique for cameras. She had posted before and after photos of herself, taken 15 minutes apart, that had her looking slimmer and more flattering.
While it’s not easy to knock off the calories or erase the facial flaws as beauty programmes often promise, it is possible to look better, if not perfect, for a photo-op or selfie.
City-based photographers, Venkata Ramana and Rajesh Katta, share the cheat-sheet:
If you are on the heavier side, tuck in your tummy for a few seconds and go for a side-profile. Sitting while posing, with a straight back, also takes away attention from the flab. If you are wearing something that is tight around the waist, cover it up with a bag or your hands.
Striking a hand-on-the-hip pose for girls ensures that the upper body doesn’t look large because the arms are not sticking next to it.
Crossing your legs at your ankles while sitting is another trick, this makes your thighs and calves look slimmer.
If you have fuller cheeks, don’t go all smiles, smile only gently. Oval-shaped faces can get away with exaggerated expressions.
To ditch that double chin, life your face a little. Put your tongue on the roof of your mouth while smiling to hide the double chin.
Shorter people should maintain mid-angle shots while taller people should maintain eye level.
If you are petite, turn your body to a side, pointing towards the camera, and put one foot in front of the other and place your weight on your back foot. This makes you appear larger.
If you are thin or rather skinny, make sure the lens used in DSLR cameras is 50 mm or less. And, if you are a little plump, choosing a lens of 70 mm and more will make you look slimmer.
Avoid taking a selfie or a snap under direct sun or strong lights as the camera will then catch all the blemishes on your face. Not just that, sunrays can make you squint, which will plump up your jawline. Evening lights is a good choice. Indoors, choose a location, which offers you lighting on one side and backside.
