Bollywood movie-makers have found novelty in literary masterpieces too. The soon-to-be released 'Haider', featuring Shahid and Shraddha is an adaption of William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'. The brilliantly pulled off trailer gained a lot of appreciation- The overtly dramatic film on the heavy-drinker 'Devdas' is based on Sharat Chandra's book of the same name. Another film inspired by one of his book was 'Parineeta' featuring Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan.
- We all remember Langda Tyagi and Kesu Firangi from 'Omkara', but we believe you didn't know that the movie was adapted from 'Othello'.
- We bet you still have the vivid memory of Ranbir Kapoor trying to lure you in a towel. The film that raised quite a few eyebrows was based on 'White Nights'.
