Hindu Makkal Katchi and Hanuman Sena illegally placed an idol of Lord Shiva

Coimbatore:Tension prevailed in Kuniyamuthur after activists of the Hindu Makkal Katchi and Hanuman Sena illegally placed an idol of Lord Shiva at a reserved site belonging to the Coimbatore corporation on Friday and the police removed it.
The Kuniyamuthur police said Balakrishnan, a resident of 'N' Block, Kovaipudur, had a plan to construct a temple near his home. But he did not avail of permission. However, on Friday, Balakrishnan told Hindu activists that he had had a vision that an idol was buried in a vacant plot of land near his home and directed them to dig at a particular spot.
The activists then 'discovered' a Shiva idol and erected it on a cement pedestal. The area residents complained to the Kuniyamuthur police who took down the illegal structure. However, A. Sakthivel, 47, a Hanuman Sena activist, along with functionaries of the Indu Makkal Katchi, reached the spot and protested against the police action.
The police registered a case against 30 persons, and are on the look-out for Sakthivel. Sakthivel has been booked under sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 448 (house trespass), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging duty) and under section 3 (1) of the Tamil Nadu Properties (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act.
The 29 other protestors were booked under sections 143 (unlawful assembly) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the IPC. Further investigations are on.
