Speakers agree to sort out accommodation problem of Telangana and AP
It was mutually agreed to allot the entire CLP Building complex on a 50:50 ratio
Hyderabad: Following the intervention of the Governor, the presiding officers of Telangana and AP Legislatures had a lengthy meeting on Friday and sorted out the office-sharing issues between the two legislative bodies.
Telangana state Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary has agreed to shift secretary Raja Sadaram’s chambers from the Old Assembly Buildings and allot it to AP Deputy Speaker Mandali Budda Prasad.
AP Speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, meanwhile, agreed for Telangana Assembly Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy to continue from her chambers in the Old Assembly building.
It was also mutually agreed to allot the entire CLP Building complex for the exclusive use of Telangana Assembly political offices. Earlier, it had been decided to share the CLP building on a 50:50 ratio.
The present four-floor Administrative Building will be shared by both the legislatures, with AP getting the ground and first floor and Telangana utilising the remaining two floors.
The Speakers also agreed to share the ministers’ chambers and committee halls in the new Assembly in a 50:50 ratio with the adjacent rooms and halls near the Old Assembly buildings going to AP.
It was also agreed to allot exclusive chambers for Telangana Legislative Council chairman, deputy chairman and Legislative Affairs minister in the Jubilee Hall, Old Council Hall complex and AP has agreed to leave some portion for this purpose.
It is now up to the Telangana Assembly Speaker to allot suitable chambers to the secretary of Legislature who has to work even on non-session days.
“We have sorted out everything, but if some new issues come up we will meet and resolve them,” Dr Siva Prasada Rao told newsmen.

Telangana Assembly Speaker Mr Madhusudana Chary said that the meeting was very cordial and friendly and both parties had agreed to meet often to sort out any other issues that might crop up.
