31 MPs from Tamil Nadu record 100 per cent attendance in Lok Sabha

31 of the 39 MPs from Tamil Nadu have recorded 100% attendance in 33 sittings
Chennai: Here’s some good news to cheer us for the I-Day. Thirty-one of the 39 MPs from Tamil Nadu have recorded 100 per cent attendance in all the 33 sittings so far held in the 16th Lok Sabha which saws the conclusion of its second session on Thursday.
However, Dharmapuri MP Anbumani Ramadoss (PMK) has the lowest attendance score of 59 per cent. North Chennai MP Venkatesh Babu and Tiruvallur MP Venugopal (both AIADMK) stand first and second from the state with their participation in debates and the number of questions they raised. None of the TN MPs initiated a private member bill.
Speaking to DC, Venkatesh Babu said, “Most of the questions raised by me related to day-to-day issues, such as the rise in prices of essentials”. One of his questions to the defence ministry brought to light that private corporates owed over Rs 26 lakh to the IAF for hiring aircraft for various purposes, he said.
Chennai-based K. Srinivasan, founder, Sansad Ratna Awards for top Parliamentarians, said many first time MPs from Tamil Nadu were keen participants in the sittings. “It's good to see that most of them attended Parliament on all days but they must learn to unleash the potential of the question hour, when ministers could be grilled and supplementary questions asked. MPs could be briefed on how to use question hour to benefit the common man”.
