Centre not to break ‘Ram Sethu’

Govt to execute the Sethusamudram shipping canal project without damaging 'Ram Setu'
New Delhi: The government assured Parliament on Thursday that it will not “break” what is considered the Ram Sethu though it will try to execute the Sethusamudram shipping canal project.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha during Question Hour on Thursday, shipping minister Nitin Gadkari said the the government will make sure that the navigation system is put in place without causing any damage to ‘Ram Setu’.
He further said that the government's stand on the ‘Ram Sethu’ is known and that it will not be broken. He also said that four “alternatives” have bene presented to him and the government wil try to execute the project without affecting ‘Ram Sethu’.
