Debutant director Harik promises that the film will out a message

Hyderabad: A small film Kirrak is set to release in the coming weeks despite the fact that there are many big films hitting the screens at the same time. The film’s director Harik is confident about his film doing well at the box-office.
“This is my debut film and I have studied films in Amsterdam,” says Harik who is a native of Vijayawada. After completing B.Tech and MBA he joined the SAE Institute of Amsterdam for a Diploma in Film Technology. “After completing the course I worked as an apprentice with directors like J.D. Chakravarthy, Y.V.S. Choudhary and Samudra,” says Harik.
Harik says that he wrote a script with a mafia backdrop after he gained confidence about working on his own. “I met many producers, but they felt that the subject needed a big budget and they could not afford to try out a debutant director. So I dropped the mafia story and then decided to work on a small film,” he says.
“In this film, the lead actor is a Pawan Kalyan fan and the lead actress is a Mahesh Babu fan. To attract both the fans of these stars, I brought in their reference in my story,” says the director.
There are no satires on these stars and both are given equal importance. Moreover, the director also inserts a small message through the stars. “There are many dialogues related to these stars in the film but we didn’t take any songs or dialogues from their films.” he says. The title of the film has been borrowed from a popular song in the Pawan Kalyan starrer Atharintiki Daredi. It is an added advantage for the film, feels Harik.
Anirudh and Chandini are the lead pair in the film. “Anirudh has made a few short films on YouTube and has got more than ten lakh views for those films. He is a huge Pawan Kalyan fan. Chandini has acted in couple of Telugu and Tamil films,” says Harik talking about the lead pair.
Harik says that if he gets even a few theatres he would release his film. “Even though big films are releasing at the same time, my film won’t be affected as it is very different. I am planning a release on August 22 or 29,” he says. For his next film he wants to work with an upcoming star. “My next film will be on the mafia and I want to cast an upcoming star in the film. Discussions for the film are on,” he says.
