Why this survey, Centre asks Telangana government
Home Ministry sends note after TDP complains
Hyderabad: The Centre has sought clarification from the Telangana government about its purpose of the Intensive Household Survey to be conducted on August 19.
The Union home ministry on Wednesday sought details of the survey following several complaints received from various political parties and public representatives against the household survey.
They complained that there was a “hidden agenda” behind the survey to identify Seemandhra people residing in the city.
The Andhra Pradesh government has already taken up the issue with the Governor and the Centre to intervene in the issue and protect the interests of Seemandhra people residing in Telangana.
Telugu Desam MPs from Andhra Pradesh took up the issue with Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday following which he directed the home ministry to seek clarification from the Telangana government about the survey.
Though the Telangana government did not receive any official communication from the Centre to this effect on Wednesday, a letter from the ministry to the government is expected on Thursday.
