White card holders find Telangana survey a threat
White cards will be cancelled if the families are found to be owning vehicle or property
Hyderabad: The Intensive Household Survey has become a cause for concern for white ration card holders as the state government has decided to cross-check details declared by the families with various departments, especially the RTA and revenue departments.
The aim is to ascertain whether the families own any properties or vehicles. The white cards will be cancelled if the families are found to be owning them.
Cancellation of white card would mean becoming ineligible for ration quota, Arogyasri, pension, housing etc.
While the income limit remains the only criterion to issue white cards, the government feels that several cardholders are suppressing their income details without declaring vehicles and properties owned by them.
For that reason, a special column on details of movable and immovable assets has been incorporated in the survey form.
Irrespective of the declaration given by the families whether they own properties and vehicles or not, the data will be cross-checked by the government with Road Transport Authority (RTA) and Revenue departments.
