6,000 pupils to form part of flag demo

School authorities have also arranged a tableau of the ‘Dandi March’ as part of the massive event
KOLLAM: In an event noted as the first of its kind in the Country and the history of CBSE schools, Thangal Kunju Musaliar Centenary Public School in Kollam will organise ‘Samarpan’, a national integration display with the participation of 6000 students and staff members of TKM schools, marking the 68th Independence Day of the country.
The patriots will assemble at the school ground on Thursday at 9.30 am to the accompaniment of the National Song ‘Vande Matharam’ with coloured balloons in their hands to form the pattern of the National Flag including the Ashoka Chakra. The 6000 balloons will be released denoting freedom.
The school authorities have also arranged a tableau of the ‘Dandi March’ as part of the massive event at the ground. The stage will also be decorated with tricolours and will be adorned by the picture of Mahatma Gandhi in the backdrop.
“All of us are coming together on this occasion to form the National flag on the ground with coloured balloons on our hands. After the ceremony we will release those 6000 balloons together to form a spectacular sight. The students include those from LKG to the Higher Secondary,” said Latha Alexandar, Principal, TKM Centenary Public School.
Kollam Mayor Prasanna Earnest will be the Guest of Honour and Mr. Mahesh D. Dharmadhikari, Regional Officer, CBSE, Thiruvananthapuram will felicitate the gathering.
