Boy drowns in school sump at Vanasthalipuram

A two-and-a-half-year-old boy accidentally drowned in a water sump at Abhigna Kids playschool
Hyderabad:A two-and-a-half-year-old boy accidentally drowned in a water sump at Abhigna Kids playschool-cum- baby care centre at Vanasthalipuram on Wednesday. The boy’s mother, Vijaya, is a teacher at the school, She took him with her to the centre.
The sump was opened to draw water, but was left uncovered. The toddler who was playing nearby, slipped and fell inside. A negligence case was booked against the playschool management.
The kid Vachan lived with his father Anil Kumar at Hill Colony in Vanasthalipuram. At around 2 pm, Sailaja, the maid, opened the cover of the sump to draw water. “She drew water to clean the kids and fill vessels in the washroom,” said Mr Saidulu, investigating officer, Vanasthalipuram.
The maid and the mother were not present when the boy fell into the sump at around 2.30 pm. Vijaya noticed that Vachan was missing and started searching for him, but couldn’t find him. “She found him in the sump filled with eight feet water. He was unconscious and was rushed to hospital, but the doctors declared him as brought dead,” said Mr Saidulu.
