Jyotika returns to the screen with the remake of the Mollywood hit How Old Are You

Chennai:This is a coup of sorts and good news for all fans of the ravishing Jyotika. Once a top heroine of Tamil and Telugu cinema, who quit acting after marrying actor Suriya, her co star in seven of her movies; Jyotika is making a comeback and in the most befitting manner!
The bubbly and beautiful actress will return to acting after a decade to star in the remake of Mollywood blockbuster, How Old Are You, reprising Manju Warrier’s role. Directed by Roshan Andrews, the film brought Kerala’s most loved actress Manju Warrier back to the silver screen after a 14 year break, got excellent reviews and later took the box office by storm.
The major piece of news also is that Suriya’s newly launched banner, 2D Entertainment, has bought the all-India remake rights of the film. The story, written by ace duo Bobby and Sanjay, tells the tale of a middle-aged Nirupama, essayed by Manju, who re-discovers her life after being pushed to the edge by family pressures. The film is about her quest to unearth her long buried identity.
There have been speculations running high about Jyotika’s comeback to tinsel town and they have been doing the rounds for the last few years. Perhaps, impressed with the kind of impact How Old Are You created, sources said that Jyotika felt that it was the perfect film as her comeback vehicle.
Roshan, who directed the original, has also been roped in for the Tamil version. The film which had the concept of organic farming as its central thread was given tax exemption by the Kerala government for its social message of women’s empowerment. A source from the production house says that 2D Entertainment is committed to making quality films and its maiden production, which went on the floors recently, is directed by the award winning Pandiraj.
