Telugu Desam Party and Trinamool MPs fight, President asks to keep dignity
New Delhi: Telugu Desam Party and Trinamool MPs were involved in an ugly spat in Parliament on Tuesday over allotment of rooms for housing their respective Parliamentary party offices, leading to President Pranab Mukherjee making a passionate appeal to the lawmakers to maintain their dignity, honour and prestige.
The drama began on Tuesday afternoon when Trinamool MPs, led by its floor leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Mr Sultan Ahmed went to Room No. 5, which currently houses the TDP Parliamentary Party office, and removed name boards while trying to occupy the room with the help of a Central Public Works Department team. The Prime Minister is allotted Room No. 9.
They also entered into an argument with TDP Parliamentary Party Office secretary N. Satyanarayana who questioned their actions at a time when none of the TDP MPs were in the office.
