Telangana State CID inspecting every village as part of the investigation in to a housing scam
Hyderabad: Telangana State Crime Investigation Department sleuths are inspecting every village in the state as part of the investigation in to a housing scam. The SIT officials visited several districts including Ranga Reddy.
In Basheerabad in Tandur in Ranga Reddy district CID sleuths found that not even pillars had been raised but bills were claimed as if houses were completed. CID officials said that in Basheerabad out of 247 houses the builders claimed bills for several of them though the constructed was not completed. In Basheerabad alone Rs 2.82 lakh has been claimed fraudulently.
CID officials said that there is connivance of beneficiaries with the officials of housing department. “They will be arrested soon,” said a CID official. In Regondi of Peddemul mandal where there are only 291 families and it was claimed that 290 houses had been constructed but the field inspections revealed the irregularities.
CID has issued nine FIRs regarding the scam and recently formed a Special Investigation Team. CID DIG Charu Singha is supervising the probe.
CID booked the cases against irregularities including fake bills claimed and bills claimed without constructing the houses. According to CID IG Ms Charu Sinha, “In view of several allegations of misuse of the Weaker Section Housing Program by certain unscrupulous persons and misuse of funds, the Government has ordered for a detailed investigation by the CID. The probe is pertaining to years from 2004 to 2014.
The Telangana government issued orders giving CID Telangana jurisdiction over the entire state. One of the inspectors working in CID Telangana will be nominated as station house officer of the CID Police Station,”
Based on complaints from project directors and housing department of the nine districts, as many as 9 cases have been registered by the CID. The cases are being investigated by CID Telangana with Special Investigation Teams (SIT) consisting of about 22 police officers and 37 police officers from all districts of Telengana.
