The official pages of the government has a small number of followers, since they were created

Vijayawada: Contrary to the tech savvy image, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Telugu Desam have, the official pages of the government has a small number of followers, since they were created on July 28 this year.
It is obvious that the CM and Telugu Desam have a lot of following among techies in AP and abroad. However it seems they are not much aware of the official pages of the state, where Mr Naidu intended to keep people posted with latest developments, as well as receive suggestions and ideas.
While, the Facebook page ‘Andhra Pradesh Government’ with the tag government organisation has 11,034 followers its Twitter handle has only 1,228 followers. Similarly, the Facebook page ‘Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’ with the tag government official, has just 7,466 followers and its Twitter handle has 1,462 followers as on date.
The official Facebook page of ‘Telugu Desam Party’ was promoting all the four accounts. Ironically, the party’s page has over 7 lakhs followers, which is the highest, compared to many other political party pages in the country.
The AP government’s communication adviser Parakala Prabhakar in a meeting held here recently informed people that the TD government is ready to receive suggestions and ideas from the public and as part of this mission the government started portals in social networking sites.
He said, every e-mail, message sent to the official accounts on social media would be considered by the state government and it would ensure that valid ideas are implemented. Though the AP government’s pages in Facebook do not have a verified mark so far, the pages promoted by the official TD page are being updated with official content regarding the government and every move of the CM.
Meanwhile, the official Facebook page of Telangana government named ‘Telangana CMO’ has frequent updates for nearly 50,000 followers since it was started on June 10, 2014. Also, the Twitter handle of Telangana government (@TelanganaCMO) has 2,710 followers. The Twitter and Facebook accounts of the Telangana government are being maintained by the by IT & C Dept of Telangana.
Both governments through their presence in social media mostly inform people of their CMs’ meeting foreign delegations as part of developing the states.
