Dates to select college, stream on Wednesday
Hyderabad: The choice of college and stream for Eamcet admissions will be decided on Wednesday according to the dates by the admissions committee of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).
Officials clarified that students will have to produce certificates submitted earlier as Financial Assistance for STudents of Telangana (Fast) eligibility has been delinked from counselling.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Telangana State Council of Higher Education chairman Prof. T. Papi Reddy said that admissions to engineering colleges in Telangana State will be completed by August 31, in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court.
“Certificate verification will commence in Telangana State from August 14 and go on till August 23. We will complete admissions by August 31 according to the Supreme Court directions,” he said.
To cover up for the delay, 25,000 students will have to get their certificates verified at helpline centres each day in order of their ranks. This means the first day will have certificate verification of ranks from 1 to 25,000, the second day will have 25,001 to 50,000 and so on and so forth.
The notification was issued by the co-convener of the admissions committee, Shailaja Ramaiyer.
Dates for Web counselling, when students have to choose their college and stream, will be decided on Wednesday. It will, in all likelihood, begin from August 24 in both states.
Meanwhile, the Telangana State government has decided to send TSCHE chairman Prof. Papi Reddy as its representative to the admissions committee. Interestingly, both technical education commissioner and co-convener Shailaja Ramaiyer and higher education secretary Vikas Raj will not attend the meeting.
