NEW DELHI: In Delhi, PM Narendra Modi's mantra “Achche Din Aane Wale Hain” may just not work for the BJP if elections are held along with the forthcoming Assembly polls in three states.
This has been reported in a recent survey conducted by the RSS. This perhaps was the reason why neither the Prime Minister, Mr Modi, nor the BJP chief Amit Shah, spoke of Delhi elections during the party's national council held recently.
Also, the BJP is apparently wary of recalling Kerala governor and former Delhi chief minister Shiela Dikshit as it apprehends that her presence in Delhi could boost Congress' prospects. Reason for the BJP losing its grip over Delhi is mainly due to acute power and water crisis and government’s failure to curb inflation so far.
The RSS survey, based on a sample of 45,500 voters across the 70 Assembly constituencies, reportedly showed that Mr Modi’s “Acche Din Aane Wale Hain” slogan had gone well with the electorate in the recent Lok Sabha elections and the party had managed to take a lead in as many as 60 seats. But the survey said that the same slogan was not going to work to the advantage of the saffron party if state elections were held immediately.
Of the 60 seats where the BJP had registered its victory, the survey showed that the party may lose as many as 22 seats if elections were held in the near future.
“The survey results showed the BJP in a comfortable position in only 38 seats,” a source close to the RSS said.
The survey also said the people think that the BJP had been doing the same things what was being done by both Ms Dikshit and Mr Kejriwal during his 49-day stint.
