145 workers hailing from Andhra Pradesh return from war-torn countries

113 people from Iraq and another 32 persons from Libya have arrived safely

New Delhi: About 145 workers belonging to Andhra Pradesh, who were employed in war-torn Iraq and Libya, returned to India on Wednesday.

A statement from Andhra Pradesh Information Centre here said that 113 people from Iraq and another 32 persons from Libya have arrived safely in New Delhi.

They will be sent to their respective native places from the national capital by flights.

So far, about 1000 persons hailing from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, who were employed in the strife torn countries, have reached their respective home towns safely since civil war broke out in those countries.

It said that Andhra Pradesh government had quickly responded on the issue of stranded Telugu citizens from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in Iraq and Libya.

In response to letters addressed by the Chief Minister, the Ministry of External Affairs has conveyed that it was taking all necessary steps for smooth and safe shifting of Indians on all possible routes, the statement added.

The Special Representative of the Government of Andhra Pradesh at New Delhi Kambhampati Ramamohan Rao expressed his satisfaction on the timely action taken by the Centre, the release said.
