Of hellos and goodbyes
A wow welcome
The freshers party at Villa Marie was a fun-filled event. With the theme “Blossoms”, contestants for the Miss Fresher’s contest did not disappoint and lived up to the theme. The seniors also made sure the event was lively and the freshers were treated to 15 dance performances by various groups and of course, the selfie paid a visit too.
‘Golden ticket to us’
At the graduation ceremony of SNIST, the eight students, who were awarded gold medals for their academic performance, had an extra reason to celebrate. For Kollala Sai Sundeep, a biotechnology student, this gold medal is a ticket to the US. “I’m actually in the middle of my application and this gold medal works better for my CV,” he says. But for T. Sandhya, a topper since the first year, this was not a surprise. Ask her how she prepared and she says, “I’m from the electronics and electrical batch and we have subjects that are spread over all four years. So, it was more important to be in touch with the basics of the subject.”
Over too fast
Mixed feelings filled the air as students of the 2010-2014 batch attended their convocation ceremony at BITS-Pilani Hyderabad campus. As Vishwajeet Kolathur, a student, put it, “It’s an overwhelming feeling. Imagine a piece of paper is proof of four amazing years of your college life. The feeling of becoming an engineer is exciting.” The ceremony was presided over by Padma Bhushan Dr K. Radhakrishnan, chairman of Space Commission, secretary, Department of Space, Government of India, and chairman of Isro. With a total of 638 students graduating, the room was filled with smiles and there was the mandatory ‘throwing of hats’.
