Syringes in Indian athletes' rooms in Glasgow, reports

So far, there is no proof of Indian athletes found doping

New Delhi: The Indian contingent of the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Glasgow was warned after syringes were found in their rooms during their stay. No athlete was found guilty for doping as such though.

As per the reports, the housekeeping staff at the Games Village came across syringes in the room of an Indian para-athlete following which more such cases were discovered in some of the other rooms occupied by the Indian athletes.

According to the rules that were brought into practice since London 2012 (Olympics), athletes having syringes or injections has to be medically justified. Else, it is the violation of the new rule set by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

The daily quoted India’s chef de mission Raj Singh saying, “"The athletes used the syringes to administer multi-vitamin doses." "There was no rule violation. I was present at the medical commission hearing and they too gave us a clean chit."

India won 64 medals in Glasgow.
