Chandrababu Naidu issues gag on speculations for AP capital

Naidu said ministers are making statements according to their whims and fancies

Hyderabad: An angry Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has warned the ministers not to talk about the new capital of the state.

During the Cabinet meeting on Monday at Mr Naidu’s camp office at Lake View guest house, the issue of state capital came up for discussion.

Mr Naidu said the ministers are making statements every day according to their whims and fancies. This will create unnecessary problems for the government.

These statements had provoked the people of Rayalaseema, particularly Kurnool and they had started an agitation, he added.

Mr Naidu said that he had already announced that the new capital will come up at a central place in the state. “Why are you creating controversy regarding the capital with uncalled for statements?” asked Mr Naidu, a source said.

It has been learnt that Mr Naidu pulled up one minister for his statements on the state capital. Another minister complained to him that the municipal minister, who is also the chairman of the capital committee, is issuing statements everyday on the issue.

Mr Naidu also expressed anger on statements by ministers that the state will create a tribal district. He asked the ministers to clarify it to the media that the state has no proposal for creating a new district for tribals.

Later, finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and information minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said that some sections are spreading the rumours of tribal district while state has no such plan.
