Road widening sparks row at Bhoiguda in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Seven residential complexes, two temples, one petrol bunk and a part of the ECIS hospital would be affected due to road widening (from 80 feet to 125 feet) to make way for the Metro rail at New Bhoiguda Y-junction.
Angry residents wanted to know why the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority is extending the road to 125 feet, when everywhere else it has been only 100 feet for the Metro works.
D. Ashok Kumar of New Bhoiguda said, “We are not against the Metro rail But we don’t understand why the HMDA is taking away our property.
The road is already 80 feet wide. It can be extended to 100 feet but what is the point in taking it to 125 feet? We have approached the GHMC officials and they state that they are not aware of these notices being given by HMDA.”
Utter confusion prevailed at the Y-junction stretch of New Bhoiguda with one resident’s association demanding works to be carried out on a vacant railway land and the other demanding no further extension.
HMDA officials, however, refrained from commenting on the situation.
