Coca-Cola to invest Rs 1,000-crore, Adani head meets KCR
Hyderabad: The world’s soft drink giant Coca-Cola has offered to set up a mega plant with an investment of nearly Rs 1,000 crore in Telangana state.
The company has sought the support of the government for the purpose. Irial Finan, executive vice-president and T. Krishna Kumar, regional head Coca Cola, India, along with the company’s delegation, called on Chief Mini-ster K. Chandrashekar Rao at the Secretariat on Monday and discussed the proposal.
The company, which already has a plant in Patancheru, plans to set up a mega plant of four-times higher capacity than the existing plant.
Mr Finan informed Mr Rao that Telangana is the largest market for Coca-Cola and is willing to expand its base in the new state.
Mr Rao assured him of all government support, including identifying suitable land, and welcomed them to set up the plant at the earliest.
The delegation also assured that they would participate in the community development programmes undertaken by the government.
Meanwhile, Goutham Adani, chairman of the Adani group of companies, also called on the Chief Minister at the Secretariat on Monday.
Mr Adani informed Mr Rao about his company’s profile and activities taken up in various states. He said his company will be able to produce 20,000 MW of power by the year 2020 and would be in a position to supply to needy states.
Mr Rao said the government is planning an industrial policy with a single window clearance. He said the government has already identified land suitable for industries and has been developing all asp-ects including infrast-ructure facilities. How-ever, he said there is a shortage of power and will be happy if Adani group comes forward with its ideas to ease the power problem.
