Chandrababu Naidu obfuscating new Andhra Pradesh capital issue: Congress

Post bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, a committee is looking into the issue
Kadapa: Floor Leader of Congress in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, C Ramachandraiah on Tuesday accused state chief minister Chandrababu Naidu of "obfuscating" the new state capital issue.
"Chandrababu has created confusion on the location of new capital (for Andhra Pradesh) among people and has tried to create a row over the issue by giving selective 'leaks' to media," Ramachandraiah, a former endowment minister, told reporters at Congress office here.
Post bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, a committee appointed by the Central government is looking into the issue, but is yet to submit a report on location of new capital in the truncated state.
"The chief minister has issued different statements on setting up the new capital without waiting for the report by the Central panel," he said, adding that location of new capital is neither a "personal issue of Naidu nor that of TDP."
Ramachandraiah said that Kurnool will be the ideal location for the new capital.
"The then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had announced that Kurnool is being made capital of Andhra state in 1953 and the consent of leaders from both Andhra and Rayalaseema regions was also taken," Ramachandraiah said, adding that the issue of establishing new capital should be decided after taking people's views and not unilaterally.
