Gang targets elderly kirana shop owners, nabbed with Rs 13 lakh gold

Hyderabad:The Central Zone police nabbed a notorious three member gang involved in about 20 offences in Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates. The gang targets grocery stores run by elderly persons. The cops recovered gold worth Rs 13 lakh.
Introducing themselves as suppliers of biscuits and chocolates, they deceive shopkeepers by saying that they have been selected by the company for gifts of gold chains and rings. Another gang member then talks to the victim as a manager over phone to gain their confidence. They take the victim’s gold ornaments for measurement and by diverting their attention, flee the spot.
The accused have been identified as Santosh Kulkarni, 46, a resident of Dilsukhnagar, Puligila Lakshman, 45, a resident of Gowliguda and Mudigonda Bhaskar, 25, a resident of Dilsukhnagar. CCTV footage played a major role in tracing the accused, said the cops.
