Bastar woman sold in Delhi for Rs 50,000
Raipur: A 19-year-old woman from Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region was allegedly sold for Rs 50,000 at Delhi after being lured of placement there by a human trafficker, police said on Monday. She however escaped and reached her home a couple of days ago.
The woman lodged a FIR against the alleged human trafficker as well as against her employers who reportedly sexually exploited her after purchasing her at Rs 50,000.
“The victim filed a FIR in Pakhanjore police station against the woman who took her to Delhi promising her to give job and also against the person who sexually abused her after purchasing her,” police said.
The woman trafficker Suchitra Tiwari has been arrested. A police team has been sent to Delhi to arrest the person who allegedly sexually exploited her.
According to the police, Suchitra took the victim to Delhi on December 13 last year promising her to give her employment there. She then sold her to one Sudhir who later sold her to another person.
She managed to escape and gathered some money after getting employment as a domestic help and returned her village.
