United States strikes new Islamic State base
New round of airstrikes by fighter jets and unmanned drones has targeted Islamic State
Washington: The US defence department said a new round of airstrikes by fighter jets and unmanned drones has targeted Islamic State. The US Central Command said the strikes destroyed armed vehicles, including one that was firing on Kurdish forces in the approaches to the city of Irbil, and a mortar position.
The military said the fourth airstrike took place from about 2:15 am Eastern Daylight Time. The US has delivered 52,000 meals and more than 10,600 gallons of fresh drinking water. US President Barak Obama did not give a timetable for the US military intervention but said that Iraq’s problems would not be solved in weeks.
