Venkaiah Naidu wants K Chandrasekhar Rao to take back ‘fascist’ remark

Mr Naidu criticised Mr Rao on the issue of powers to the Governor in the common capital area

Hyderabad: Union minister and senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday demanded Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to withdraw his comments calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a fascist.

Addressing a media conference at the state BJP office here , Mr Naidu criticised Mr Rao on the issue of powers to the Governor in the common capital area.

“Mr Rao was quite aware of the provisions of the Act. he also knows during whose regime the Act was passed. We are only implementing the law. How can you call this an act of fascism? Do you know the meaning of it? It is the duty of the Centre to implement the legislations passed by Parliament, which can not be treated as an act of fascism” Mr Naidu said.

Explaining the federal spirit, the Union minister said it is not only the duty of the Centre to co-operate with the states. The states too need to co-operate with the Centre.
He said the NDA government will not discriminate any state and will treat all states equally.

“How could KCR welcome the Telangana Bill and organise massive victory celebrations, when he knew it pretty well that the provisions of the Act would give powers to the Governor?” Mr Naidu asked.
He said it is the duty of the BJP cadres and leaders to counter the criticism against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In an indirect reference to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, the Union minister said “A person who wanted to be the Prime Minister is trying to undermine the mandate of the people. This is a clear case of Congress leaders, who are still unable to reconcile to their worst ever defeat in the general elections.
