BJP targets Reddys in Andhra Pradesh, Ram Madhav is in-charge
Hyderabad: BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav has been appointed as party in-charge and given the responsibility of strengthening the party in Andhra Pradesh.
The BJP feels the Reddy community is at crossroads in AP with many leaders from the community joining the YSRC before the elections and some remaining in the Congress.
The BJP is trying to lure the Reddy community due to its political clout. The community is powerful in four districts, Rayalaseema, Prakasam and Nellore districts and some parts of Guntur district.
The BJP is trying to persuade Reddy leaders to join it and is trying to talk to former minister Anam Ram Narayana Reddy in Nellore and former Union minister Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy in Kurnool.
Union urban development minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has good relations with Anam brothers.
The BJP wants to be an alternative force in AP by 2019. Leaders have decided to discuss with former Union Minister Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy in Kurnool district and former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in Chittoor district.
BJP feels that Pavan Kalyan will succeed with their party and because of that Kapu leaders will extend their support to BJP.
In Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao also belongs to the Kapu community.
Because of Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu some sections of Kamma community also supports their party, feels BJP.
BJP thinks in Andhra Pradesh, with Congress party almost wiped out, and the future of YSRCP uncertain, BJP with major communities and castes will emerge as an alternate to TDP in the 2019 general elections.
