Industrial body to boost IT fund flow
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government will give the status of Industrial Area Local Authorities (IALAs) to all the Information Technology (IT) industrial areas, IT layouts, zones and corridors, including electronic manufacturing clusters (EMCs) and also the Information Technology and Investment region delineated processing areas.
This is to ensure fast track development of IT and other industries and planned construction of infrastructural facilities for the sector.
Neither the municipal corporations nor municipalities or the panchayats will have the authority and jurisdiction over IALAs.
The IALAs will function independently and discharge the powers and function of local authorities, such as giving permission for construction of buildings and lying of roads and other infrastructural facilities.
However, IALA status also empowers the IT zones to collect property tax from building and industry owners in its jurisdiction, but share 35 per cent to 50 per cent of the tax with local bodies that maintain connecting infrastructure to IALAs.
These IALAs would function as an extended arm of Industry, IT and Infrastructure departments.
Provision of civic amenities and infrastructural facilities are taken care off by IALAs and not the local bodies.
Officials said a highly empowered single window clearance unit will be set up and operationalised for granting approvals and clearances in IALA limits.
It would be supported by state- of-the-art centralised help desk on 24x7 bases duly leveraging the e-Biz portal set up by the Centre.
“The objective of this window would be to reduce time to set up business and also reduce cost of doing business,” officials added.
