Border deployment to be revamped

Security forces have decided to revamp the deployment pattern along the International Border

New Delhi: Security forces have decided to revamp the deployment pattern along the International Border and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of a recent incident where BSF jawan Satyasheel Yadav was captured by Pakistani Rangers when he was swept into their territory.

Mr Yadav, who was in custody of the Pakistani agencies for 48 hours this week, was questioned by the field intelligence unit of the Pakistan Army and the ISI during which they asked him all possible details of the deployment of security forces, their patrolling pattern and the kind of heavy artillery being deployed in the R.S. Pura sector, along the Indo-Pak border.

“During Mr Yadav’s debriefing certain important developments have come to light that necessitate some important changes in the deployment pattern of our security forces,” an intelligence official said.

Intelligence sources said though Mr Yadav was supposed to be returned earlier, Pakistani authorities delayed it. “It seems the Pakistani agencies wanted to grill him thoroughly and thus delayed his handing quoting procedural issues,” the official added.
