Divakaran humbled, Venjaramoodu Sasi ready to resign
Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant decision, the CPI state council on Monday downgraded senior leader and former minister C. Divakaran from the state executive and initiated disciplinary action against P. Ramachandran Nair and district secretary Venjaramoodu Sasi in connection with the candidature of Bennet Abraham in Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat.
Both Ramachandran Nair and Sasi who were removed from state council and state executive, would now function in district council. Prakash Babu will be acting district secretary.
The disciplinary action was initiated against the three leaders after a party probe panel found them responsible for various irregularities. At a press conference after the CPI state council meet, state secretary Pannyan Raveendran told media persons that there were lapses on the part of party leadership and state council had unanimously decided to initiate disciplinary action against them.
